Position Overview
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), Data Quality Office, is seeking a Senior Power BI Developer to establish and lead Power BI competency within the organization. This role will focus on building data visualization solutions, enabling data-driven decision-making, and guiding teams on best practices in Power BI and the Microsoft Power Platform.

This role will focus on building data visualization solutions, enabling data-driven decision-making, and guiding teams on best practices in Power BI and the Microsoft Power Platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and implement Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into analytics and reporting solutions
- Lead development, validation, and deployment of Power BI projects
- Provide guidance and recommendations on Power BI architecture and best practices
- Work closely with business teams to understand data and reporting needs
- Coach and train internal teams on Power BI usage, standards, and governance
- Identify opportunities to improve BI processes, reporting, and data visualization strategies
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot Power BI solutions
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of Power BI development experience
- Strong expertise in:
- Power BI, DAX, Power Query
- Data modeling and data visualization
- SQL and relational databases
- Experience leading and delivering end-to-end Power BI projects
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and drive initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)
- Experience working with education data systems (PIMS)
- Experience in government/public sector environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
