Position Overview
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is seeking a Senior SSAS Developer to lead development efforts for a Research Data Repository under a federal grant initiative. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting enterprise BI solutions, data models, and analytical systems.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is seeking a Senior SSAS Developer to lead development efforts for a Research Data Repository under a federal grant initiative. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting enterprise BI solutions, data models, and analytical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain SSAS cubes, data models, and reports
- Translate business needs into analytics and reporting requirements
- Work with stakeholders across business and technical teams
- Perform data integration, data linking, and automated data refresh processes
- Participate in full SDLC (design, development, testing, deployment, support)
- Deliver high-quality code and support testing and implementation activities
- Track project progress and communicate updates with stakeholders
- Manage and support production deployments and rollouts
- Train end users on reporting tools, querying standards, and cube usage
- Identify improvements in BI processes and data architecture
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in SQL Server and BI development
- Strong expertise in:
- SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) – cube development
- SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
- SQL Server and advanced SQL querying
- Experience with multidimensional cubes and data modeling
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
- Knowledge of education data systems (PIMS)
- Experience working on data warehouse or research data projects
- Understanding of project management methodologies
Important Notes
- Hybrid role – onsite required every Thursday and for meetings/workshops
- Must be comfortable working in a government/public sector environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
