About the Role
The Franklin County Auditor’s Office is seeking a Senior .NET Application Architect and Lead Developer to provide technical leadership for application migration and modernization initiatives following a recent tax accounting system implementation. This is a high visibility, delivery-focused role that requires both architectural judgment and hands-on development.
The successful candidate will assess existing MVC-based applications, define architecture recommendations, and lead development efforts. This position reports directly to the IT Director and works closely with business analysts and project management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review existing MVC-based applications and identify modernization/migration requirements.
- Define and recommend architecture patterns and technical standards.
- Break technical work into milestones, deliverables, and development tasks.
- Provide development estimates and support project planning.
- Lead hands-on development of .NET applications and RESTful APIs.
- Design, develop, and optimize SQL Server stored procedures, indexes, and queries.
- Apply best practices with Entity Framework and data access patterns.
- Collaborate with business analysts to translate functional requirements into technical designs.
- Work closely with IT Project Manager to define scope and sequencing.
- Mentor and support developers through code reviews and troubleshooting.
- Manage development workflows using GitHub Enterprise.
- Communicate progress, risks, and technical recommendations to IT leadership.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- 8+ years professional .NET development experience
- Deep expertise in C#, .NET, and Entity Framework
- Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs and using GraphQL
- Advanced SQL Server skills including stored procedures and indexing
- Proven experience using GitHub Enterprise
- Demonstrated experience leading development efforts and mentoring other developers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience taking ownership of existing applications and codebases
Highly Desired Skills
- Migrating or modernizing legacy MVC applications
- Experience with React, Vite, NodeJS
- Stabilizing or improving applications in active production environments
- Experience in public sector or highly visible environments
- Supporting financial, tax, or property-related systems
