Job Description

Maricopa County is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Analyst to support the design, security, and ongoing operation of a new recording system within a Kubernetes-based, containerized infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring the system is secure, stable, reliable, and compliant with public-sector and election-related regulations.

The selected candidate will collaborate closely with internal IT teams and external vendors to assess system architecture, implement secure configurations, and maintain effective monitoring and logging. This position focuses on security governance, operational assurance, and defense readiness, rather than building the platform from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the security design and implementation of a Kubernetes-based, containerized system
  • Review and validate system architecture for security, reliability, and compliance
  • Implement and maintain secure configurations, access controls, and safety principles
  • Monitor system activity using logging, alerting, and data-logging tools
  • Ensure adherence to cybersecurity best practices and governance standards
  • Support cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors on system operations
  • Help ensure the system is defensible, auditable, and compliant within a regulated public-sector environment

Required Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in:
    • Kubernetes
    • Cybersecurity principles and practices

  • Practical experience with:
    • Cloud or hybrid environments
    • Access controls and identity management
    • Monitoring and logging tools
    • Infrastructure security and systems architecture

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Governance and security compliance
    • Reliability and operational resilience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting government, public sector, or other regulated environments
  • Familiarity with election systems or public services infrastructure

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (required/preferred)
