Position Overview:ย 
The Arizona Department of Education (AZED) is seeking a full-time Grant Specialist to support the Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) grant under the Academic Standards division. This role is an onsite-only position focused on literacy initiatives and grant management to enhance statewide educational programs for children from birth through grade 12. ย 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:ย 
  • Promote the Science of Reading and align literacy initiatives across birthโ€“5, Kโ€“5, and 6โ€“12 grade levels.
  • Oversee and coordinate all grant activities related to the CLSD grant, ensuring fidelity to U.S. Department of Education requirements.
  • Collaborate with agency divisions and community partners to align literacy-related efforts.
  • Provide technical assistance and tools to schools, LEAs, and early childhood programs.
  • Manage multiple grant functions including budget tracking, data utilization, reporting, and compliance monitoring.
  • Disseminate grant resources via webinars, site visits, reports, training sessions, and conferences.
  • Maintain continued support and communication with CLSD grantees and stakeholders.
  • Some in-state travel and rare out-of-state travel may be required.

Daily Work Breakdown:
ย 
  • ๐Ÿ“Š 40%: Grant processing, data entry, fiscal management, and interdepartmental coordination
  • ๐Ÿ“š 60%: Literacy initiative management, educational outreach, and program support

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Finance/Data, or a related field

  • At least 2+ years of directly relevant experience (required to be considered)
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
  • Evidence-based literacy practices & Science of Reading
  • Fiscal management, accounting principles, and budget preparation
  • High-quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) programming
  • Federal and state education program compliance
  • Adult learning styles and instructional methods
Skills in:
  • Public speaking and professional presentation delivery
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Grant management, analysis, and reporting
Ability to:
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Develop and deliver grant-related technical support
  • Create strategic plans and execute project-based work
  • Conduct data analysis and apply research to educational settings
  • Present to large groups or public audiences confidently
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate with a Literacy and/or Reading Endorsement
  • Experience managing or administering state/federal education grants
  • Background working with programs supporting children and families
